Ten most valuable Premier League clubs: Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool in top five

More and more money has been flooding in to the Premier League in recent years, helping it to keep its position as the richest league in the world.

However, not to many people will have thought that it was this rich. According to Sporting Intelligence there is not one, but two, clubs worth over £1 billion in the division, and a fair few that are on their way to the milestone.

The values of the sides has been worked out by Dr. Tom Markham, who has used one relatively simple formula to come up with the totals.

Namely, ‘club valuation= (revenue+net assets) x ((Net profit+revenue)/revenue) x (stadium capacity %)/ (wage ratio %)’.

Liverpool transfer rumours
Chelsea transfer gossip

10) West Ham, £215 million

Their move to the Olympic stadium could apparently make them worth less, with the lease replacing a ground they owned at Upton Park.

9) Everton, £216 million

Plenty of value on the pitch, but the Toffees are in dire need of a new stadium.

8) Newcastle United, £221 million

Selling 50,000 tickets for every home game doesn’t seem to have helped the Magpies break in to the big time.

7) Southampton, £259 million

Their ability to keep a constant stream of free talent coming through their academy is a major draw.

6) Liverpool, £537 million

Anfield’s current redevelopment will help the Reds to improve this massively.

5) Tottenham, £710 million

If Spurs manage to build a new stadium it could see their value rocket, especially with their location in London.

4) Chelsea, £826 million

Yet another side being held back by their ground, but Abramovich’s billions should deal with that soon enough.

3) Manchester City, £907 million

The council pays for the upkeep of the Etihad stadium, and their new training facilities have increased their worth even further.

2) Arsenal, £1.118 billion

While the Emirates is quiet, it does fill up for every home game, and the Gunners are known for their prudence in the transfer market.

1) Manchester United, £1.848 billion

Massive commercialisation has brought the Red Devils their wealth, and it surely won’t be long before they are back at the top with their current level of spending.
