With David de Gea‘s move from Manchester United to Real Madrid falling apart in spectacular fashion, here’s a look at five other bizarre failed deals of recent history…

1) Robert Lewandowski

Missing his flight due to stormy weather, Robert Lewandowski was close to joining Blackburn Rovers from Lech Poznan in 2010, though he probably won’t have too many regrets as he ended up at Borussia Dortmund and later Bayern Munich.

2) Zlatan Ibrahimovic

3) Neymar

Close to joining Manchester City in 2011, Neymar supposedly decided against the move to the Premier League due to concerns about playing on muddy pitches, and that he’d need special boots for the English weather.

4) Roy Keane
