7) Emmanuel Eboue

Fresh from a period at Galatasaray, the former Arsenal man could be a good option for a mid-table Premier League side. At 32-years-old he likely doesn’t have too long left at the top of the game, but could be perfect to boost squad depth.

6) Yoann Gourcuff

Undoubtedly technically gifted, but has also failed to live up to his potential. Linked to Arsenal in the past, it is unlikely that the Gunners will go in again. However, the midfielder could still be a bargain for someone.

5) Kevin Nolan

Surprisingly let go by the Hammers just days ago, the 33-year-old could be a brilliant signing for any side in the bottom half of the top flight. Although, he may just be waiting for Sam Allardyce to be hired by someone before he goes anywhere.

4) Ashley Cole

Even though the former England international is now 34-years-old, he could likely still cut it at the highest level. Possibly the best free agent out there, it may only be his high wage demands holding back a club from signing him.

3) Carlton Cole

Maybe not the most glamorous of possibilities, but the striker does have Premier League experience. He could well do a job for a recently promoted side or one in danger of relegation.

2) Ron Vlaar

Only 30-years-old, and recently a target for Manchester United, the centre-back seems a great option on paper. However, while he is still recovering from a serious knee injury it is unlikely anyone will take the risk.

1) Shola Ameobi

Formerly a fan favourite at Newcastle United, the striker has just come off the back of a disappointing period at Crystal Palace. The Championship could now be calling for the Nigeria international.
