England pair react to 6-0 thrashing of San Marino and Euro 2016 qualification with social media posts

Promising England duo Luke Shaw and Ross Barkley took to social media after helping the Three Lions secure qualification for next summer’s European Championships.

The youngsters were both named in the starting XI for the game against international minnows San Marino on Saturday evening and Shaw, who has begun the season with Manchester United in good form, saw his cross turned into the net by Cristian Brolli for an own-goal to give the visitors a 2-0 lead at half-time.

It was Shaw’s first game for his country since playing for 66 minutes against Scotland in a friendly back in November 2014 and he posted a message on his official Twitter account to express his delight at returning to the side:

The pair could retain their places in the starting XI for the visit of Switzerland to Wembley on Tuesday night, where a point will be enough to see them qualify for Euro 2016 as winners of Group E.
