A youthful Chelsea XI if they sign their top targets.

A look at how Chelsea could line up if they invest around £140m in youth to sign three of the world’s best young players, as reported in recent transfer rumours around the press…

GK: Thibaut Courtois

One of the best young goalkeepers in the world, Thibaut Courtois has been superb since being made Chelsea’s number one and should hold the role for years to come.

DR: Cesar Azpilicueta

Still with years ahead of him, Cesar Azpilicueta could make the move to right-back to replace the over-the-hill Branislav Ivanovic.

DL: Baba Rahman

Signed from Augsburg this summer, 21-year-old Baba Rahman looks a superb talent and could go on to become a Chelsea great at left-back.

DC: Marquinhos

Another outstanding young defender on Chelsea’s radar, PSG starlet Marquinhos, 21, is a £30m target for the Blues this winter and could be a great long-term purchase.

MC: Nemanja Matic

Brought back to Chelsea from Benfica in 2014, Nemanja Matic has been a superb signing and can be first choice in defensive midfield for many more years to come.

MC: Paul Pogba

Widely regarded as the best young player on the planet, 22-year-old midfielder Paul Pogba is a £70m target for Chelsea and a move could be on the cards this January.

AMR: Pedro

Perhaps not a player who’ll be able to start for Chelsea for the next five years, but Pedro looks an excellent signing from Barcelona and should still have a few years left in him at the very top level.

AML: Eden Hazard

Another world class young player, Eden Hazard is 24 now and approaching his peak years, which should be exciting news for everyone at Stamford Bridge.

AMC: Oscar

Signed as a youngster, Oscar is another who is still developing but looks like potentially a world class playmaker.

FC: Diego Costa

Younger than he looks, Diego Costa is another who could do a Didier Drogba and be Chelsea’s first choice centre-forward for the next five years or more.
