Odds SLASHED on Jose Mourinho sacking after Everton 3-1 Chelsea

5) Proven ability

Were Chelsea to get rid of the Portuguese, then could they realistically get as accomplished a manager at the club? The 52-year-old has already won three Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues as well as many other trophies, and almost guarantees success wherever he goes.

4) The defence can’t be this bad for much longer

One of the hallmarks of this season has been the back four’s terrible showings in almost every game. At -5, the Blues currently have the worst goal difference in the top flight, which is particularly surprising as they had the best defence last time round. Such good players can’t be out of form for too long, and it surely a matter of time before some Mourinho-like performances are seen again.

3) Eden Hazard is too good to be kept quiet

Having only one assist and no goals to his name so far, the Belgian has been uncharacteristically quiet this season. With Mourinho likely relying on the 24-year-old to lead his attacks, this loss of form has been a major blow. However, with the winger one of the best players in the world, it won’t be long before he is firing again.

2) Manchester City will falter

Manuel Pellegrini’s side have won every game so far, but that won’t be so for the entire campaign. The Citizens will drop points at some point, and that will be when Chelsea have to pounce.

1) An easier run coming up

After Arsenal next weekend, the Blues don’t face another member of last season’s top four until December 28, when they play Manchester United. During this run they should be able to climb back up the table easily enough, and even get close to Man City again.
