Arsenal ARE good enough to win the Premier League title this season, according to Gunners legend

Arsenal legend Charlie Nicholas has backed his former club to overcome the odds and win the Barclays Premier League title this season.

The Gunners currently sit fourth in the table, five points behind leaders Manchester City after beginning the campaign with a shock home defeat against West Ham United, however, they have recovered well since to win three of their last four games.

Their title credentials will be tested at Saturday lunchtime when they travel to Stamford Bridge to face an out-of-form Chelsea side as manager Arsene Wenger looks to record his first ever league victory over his arch rival Jose Mourinho.

The Frenchman bolstered his squad with the signing of Petr Cech from the Blues earlier in the summer and his arrival has given Nicholas even more confidence that the current squad at the Emirates Stadium can end the club’s long wait to be crowned champions of England once again:

“I may be the only one who thinks this but I believe that this current group is good enough to win the league,” the former Gunners star told Sky Sports.

“They had an awful start against West Ham but all of a sudden they have got a pretty good run of games going.”

“As it stands right now the team almost picks itself. Per Mertesacker is out of the team and Gabriel has done OK.”

“Cech is keeping clean sheets which is fantastic, Theo Walcott is nicking a goal and Olivier Giroud is scoring off the bench so I’m feeling quite happy about the situation right now,” Nicholas added.
