Manchester United LIVID as Luke Shaw assailant receives Man of the Match award

Manchester United are reportedly furious after Hector Moreno—the defender who injured Luke Shaw—received the Man of the Match award following PSV Eindhoven’s 2-1 victory over the Red Devils.

United were rocked by the early injury to Shaw, which left the left-back strewn on the turf for nine minutes before being replaced by Marcos Rojo.

The injury came on 15 minutes, and United struggled to regain their verve thereafter, falling to a defeat which may yet have long-lasting consequences for their Champions League campaign.

As if to add insult to injury, UEFA went on to name Moreno—who’s aggressive tackle downed Shaw—as the man of the match.

According to The Guardian, United are particularly unhappy with the decision by the European governing body, and have described the choice as “strange and disappointing”.

Shaw now faces six months on the sidelines, having been confirmed as having broken his right leg in two places.

The loss represents a considerable blow to United’s hopes of challenging for the Premier League title this season, while it also jeopardises Shaw’s chances of representing England at next summer’s European Championships in France.
