GK: Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus)

Still one of the best goalkeepers in the world, Gianluigi Buffon was in fine form for Juventus as they claimed an impressive away win at Manchester City.

DR: Alessandro Florenzi (AS Roma)

An exciting performance at right-back by Alessandro Florenzi, the Roma star stole the show with a stunning long-range lob to earn a draw against Barcelona.

DL: Kostas Manolas (AS Roma)

Solid down Roma’s left-hand side, Kostas Manolas did well to keep the likes of Lionel Messi quiet in a hard-earned draw with the holders of the competition.

DM: Fernandinho (Manchester City)

Despite the defeat, Fernandinho was a hugely impressive individual performer for Manchester City against Juventus, powering forward whenever possible to cause all kinds of problems for the visitors.

MC: Paul Pogba (Juventus)

Doing superbly to set up the first goal, Paul Pogba had a number of great touches and bossed the game from the middle of the park.

MC: Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea)

With a goal and an assist, Cesc Fabregas was back to his best for Chelsea this week, though it’s fair to say the Blues weren’t up against top opposition in Maccabi Tel Aviv.

FR: Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)

With a superb hat-trick, Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo looks back to his peak form now as he ripped Shakhtar Donetsk apart at the Bernabeu.

FL: Hulk (Zenit Saint Petersburg)

Scoring one of his trademark solo stunners, Hulk had a great game for Zenit Saint Petersburg and makes it into our Champions League team of the week.

FC: Thomas Muller (Bayern Munich)

Scoring twice as Bayern Munich beat Olympiacos, Thomas Muller was in top form up front, showing his world class ability with a fine long-range lob.
