Chelsea handed huge boost as striker DISMISSES claims of rejoining former club

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has moved to reject talk that he could rejoin former club Atletico Madrid in the near future.

The Spain international, who signed for the Stamford Bridge outfit last summer, enjoyed a stunning debut season in English football as he struck 20 goals in the Premier League and helped the Blues lift the title for the first time in five seasons.

However, following a difficult start to the new campaign there has been strong reports in the media that the 26-year-old is struggling to adapt to life in west London and a switch back to Liga BBVA was on the cards.

Speaking to reporters after netting his first Champions League goal for the Blues against Macabbi Tel-Aviv on Wednesday night, Costa insisted that there has been no contact with Atleti and is focused on helping his side overcome their poor start to the season.

“How am I going to return to Atletico if no one has made me an offer?,” he told Spanish radio station Al Primer Toque [via talkSPORT].

“I scored a good goal [against Maccabi] but we needed to win and that’s what matters.”

“We know we can give a little more than we are. Each one of us knows that we can do more. We thought things would be better,” Costa added.
