With Manchester United possibly on the lookout for Luke Shaw replacements this January, here are our suggestions for five left-backs to help the club deal with the England international’s lengthy spell on the sidelines…
1) Ashley Cole
An ideal short-term signing on the cheap, there has been speculation that Ashley Cole could be released by AS Roma this season, leaving the former Chelsea star free to move wherever he chooses. Still surely capable of doing a job in the Premier League, the former England man could be a smart addition.

2) Ricardo Rodriguez
One of the best young full-backs in the game, Swiss international Ricardo Rodriguez has been excellent for Wolfsburg and has been linked with big names like United, Real Madrid and others in recent times.
3) Adriano
Linked today with a move to United, Barcelonaa left-back Adriano could be an option for the Reds after Shaw’s injury, with the experienced Brazilian not always a regular at the Nou Camp and possibly available on the cheap.
4) Danny Rose
Superb for Tottenham last season, Danny Rose has found games harder to come by this season in what looks like a harsh move. Chelsea and Manchester City showed an interest in the summer and United could certainly do much worse.
5) Jose Luis Gaya
Another outstanding youngster, Valencia left-back Jose Luis Gaya has been linked with Arsenal and Chelsea in recent times and would arguably be an upgrade on Shaw anyway.
