Man City team news: Vincent Kompany RULED OUT of clash against West Ham United, key midfielder also doubtful

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed captain Vincent Kompany will miss the Premier League clash against West Ham United on Saturday evening.

News of the Belgian international’s injury setback was announced via the club’s official Twitter account on Friday afternoon as the Chilean boss was briefing the media in his pre-match press conference and he also revealed midfielder Samir Nasri is a doubt for the game at the Etihad Stadium.

Kompany limped out of City’s 2-1 Champions League defeat at the hands of Serie A giants Juventus in midweek with just 15 minutes to go and was confident of being fit to take his place in the starting XI against the Hammers, but he now faces a race against the clock to overcome the calf injury in time to face Tottenham Hotspur next week.

His absence will likely hand summer signing Nicolas Otamendi his full debut after he replaced Kompany on Tuesday night and the other option is veteran defender Martin Demichelis.
