Arsenal injury news: Key midfielder joins growing list of absentees for Arsene Wenger

Arsenal‘s miserable afternoon against rivals Chelsea on Saturday has been compounded with the news that key midfielder Francis Coquelin is set to miss the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur in midweek, Mirror Sport reports.

The Gunners travel to White Hart Lane on Wednesday night in the third round of the Capital One Cup, but their hopes of ending a run of back-to-back defeats have been dented with the news that the Frenchman is certainly out of the game and could be set for an extended spell on the sidelines.

Manager Arsene Wenger spoke of Coquelin’s injury when addressing the media after seeing his side fall to a 2-0 defeat in an heated clash against the Blues at Stamford Bridge.

“It is a little knee injury,” the Frenchman revealed.

“I don’t know how long it will be – certainly not for midweek. I don’t know yet how long,” Wenger added.
