Guardiola England: Five realistic alternatives, including Chelsea boss Mourinho & Liverpool’s Rodgers

Guardiola England rumour surely rubbish – five realistic alternatives.

After the bizarre Guardiola England rumours emerging today, here’s a look at five candidates to be the next manager of the Three Lions…

1) Jose Mourinho (Chelsea)

He’s hinted he could be open to it in the past! Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho may be a bit ambitious for England, but if they could land the Portuguese tactician, he’d be a brilliant appointment for the national team in their bid to end their long wait for silverware.

2) Andre Villas-Boas (Zenit Saint Petersburg)

Perhaps not an ideal fit for England, but there’s no doubt Andre Villas-Boas has his qualities and the former Chelsea and Tottenham boss should be available after deciding to leave Zenit Saint Petersburg at the end of this season.

3) Brendan Rodgers (Liverpool)

Under pressure at Liverpool at the moment, Brendan Rodgers is still a superb tactician and has got the Reds playing fantastic attacking football at times – just the kind of flair England have so often lacked.

4) Roberto Martinez (Everton)

Another impressive Premier League manager who could bring a more modern approach to England’s setup, Roberto Martinez has done a fine job at Everton, bringing through immense English talent in Ross Barkley and John Stones.

5) Garry Monk (Swansea City)

A great prospect in the management game, Garry Monk is still young and learning the game at Swansea City,  but many have tipped him to be an England manager of the future after some fine work with the Swans in his short time in charge so far.
