Man City rival Man United for signing of classy Spanish playmaker as Paul Pogba alternative

City set sights on silky Spanish pass-master after failed Pogba deal.

Manchester City could be set to switch their focus to signing Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara as an alternative to Juventus star Paul Pogba.

The 24-year-old is one of Europe’s top playmakers on his day, though he has struggled with injuries in recent years that have held him back in truly fulfilling his potential.

Still, Alcantara has been given more opportunities in the Bayern starting line up this season, and has impressed in Pep Guardiola’s side so far in 2015/16.

According to Goal.com, City could pounce and try to lure him to the Etihad Stadium as Manuel Pellegrini eyes a world class signing in midfield, with a big-money move for Pogba failing in the summer.
