With reports today that Real Madrid want to sign Chelsea forward Eden Hazard in the summer, here’s a look at five alternatives who could prove better buys than the underperforming Belgian international…
1) Sergio Aguero (Manchester City)
A versatile attacking player who’d fit right in at Real Madrid, Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero is arguably a class above a player like Hazard and would maybe even be cheaper than the Blues ace.
2) Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)
One of the best attacking players in the world, Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez has arguably outshone Hazard since moving to the Premier League, and the former Barcelona man would be a terrific buy for Real Madrid.
3) Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund)
Another top forward who is arguably superior to Hazard, Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus has been linked with Real Madrid in the past and is another who’d possibly be cheaper and better value than the Chelsea man.
4) Thomas Muller (Bayern Munich)
A phenomenal goalscorer, Thomas Muller has shown himself to be a player for the big stage and is perhaps more reliable than Hazard in many ways, though the Bayern Munich striker would be a hugely ambitious and expensive buy for Real.
5) Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool)
Linked with Barcelona this weekend, Philippe Coutinho is another world class playmaker who’d be a fine signing for Real Madrid, and he may be a more realistic target as he could leave Liverpool for the chance to play in the Champions League and win trophies.
