Liverpool outnumbered by Everton in our combined XI – no room for Benteke, Firmino & England stars

Wow – one small victory for the Blue half of Merseyside!

As Liverpool and Everton prepare to meet this weekend, here’s a combined XI of the two Merseyside giants – with the Toffees outnumbering their rivals!

GK: Tim Howard (Everton)

One of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, Tim Howard is certainly a more impressive performer than Liverpool’s Simon Mignolet in many aspects.

DR: Seamus Coleman (Everton)

On current form, Everton right-back Seamus Coleman looks a much better option than Liverpool summer signing Nathaniel Clyne, who has been slow to get going at Anfield.

DL: Joe Gomez (Liverpool)

With Leighton Baines not being taken into account due missing the season so far with a lengthy injury, Liverpool youngster Joe Gomez gets in after a terrific start.

DC: Martin Skrtel (Liverpool)

A very capable centre-back, Martin Skrtel has been a good servant to Liverpool and is a big-game player who just edges into this combined XI.

DC: John Stones (Everton)

One of the top young players in the country, Everton starlet John Stones also makes it into defence, having become one of the Toffees’ most key players since breaking into the first-team in 2013/14.

MC: Emre Can (Liverpool)

Another superb young player, Emre Can gets in ahead of Jordan Henderson, another long-term absentee through injury so far this season.

MC: James McCarthy (Everton)

A fine player box-to-box, James McCarthy is one of many Everton stars to be linked with bigger clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

AMR: James Milner (Liverpool)

A fine signing on a free this summer, James Milner has settled in quickly at Liverpool to immediately become one of their most important players.

AML: Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool)

Skillful and entertaining to watch, Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho is another Reds ace in our combined line up.

AMC: Ross Barkley (Everton)

One of English football’s bright hopes, Ross Barkley gets in ahead of disappointing Liverpool signing Roberto Firmino.

FC: Romelu Lukaku (Everton)

A lethal young striker, Romelu Lukaku is one of the top forwards of his age group in Europe and arguably better than any of Liverpool’s current options, with Daniel Sturridge a contender if he can stay fit.
