7 things Liverpool fans will LOVE about Jurgen Klopp

With the news that former Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp is the new Liverpool helmsman, it’s time to take a look at who this man is and why the downtrodden Merseyside faithful are overjoyed to have him.

Here are the seven things Liverpool fans will learn to love about Jurgen Klopp…

7. The glasses

Klopp doesn’t have the look of your typical suit-and-tie manager. If anything he looks more like a computer programmer. And those thick-frame glasses really sell the look.

Don’t let the video game aficionado look fool you though, he’s one of the smartest football minds in Europe and will be quick to prove it.

6. He’s not Brendan Rodgers

Let’s be honest here, Liverpool could’ve hired a plate of fish & chips as the new manager and there would’ve been more optimism at Anfield than having Rodgers at the helm.

Klopp is more than just a good manager, he’s a much-needed fresh face who can awaken a sleeping giant at Anfield.

5. The beard

Premier League managers seem to have some kind of allergic reactions to growing beards – but Klopp has made his own whiskers part of his signature look. Klopp should have a sponsorship deal with Just For Men by the end of the year if he can help Liverpool make some noise this year.

4. The hat

Football isn’t known for selling a lot of club hats, but one of Klopp’s signature looks from his time at Dortmund was his cap. If someone wants to invest in a Liverpool hat-making company, now would be the time – they’d sell like wildfire (and Klopp would probably buy about 50).

3. He’s a media darling

In stark contrast to Jose Mourinho and Manuel Pellegrini, Klopp approaches the media with a smile on his face and the eloquence of a man who’s simply happy to be there. He may take a no-nonsense approach to questions, but he seldom criticizes the questioners as certain “Special” managers are prone to do.

His English can be a bit spotty at times, but he always finds a way to make that part of him entertaining too.

2. On-field celebrations

From somersaults to group hugs, Klopp knows how to celebrate with his fans and his players. There aren’t a lot of managers with the youth or the personality to share in triumph on the field, but Klopp is one of the best in that department.

1. The winning and the trophies

From 2008 to 2015, Liverpool finished 6th or worse in the Premier League five times, with two second-place finishes and one League Cup title.

In that same span while Klopp was running Borussia Dortmund, the Black and Yellows won two Bundesliga titles, three German cups and were runners-up in the Champions League.

Klopp also won more 56% of his matches; Liverpool won just over 50% in that span.
