Liverpool player ratings vs FC Rubin: Young winger hands Jurgen Klopp first Europa League victory

Liverpool finally got their Europa League campaign on its way with a victory thanks to some dogged defending and a wonder strike from Jordon Ibe.

In beating Rubin, Jurgen Klopp’s men have become the first side to avoid defeat there and now find themselves in second place with a crucial clash against leaders Bordeaux to come.

But how did the players perform? Find out below…

Simon Mignolet

6/10

Had little to do in the first half, but was solid in the second, despite not truly being tested when the pressure was on.

Nathaniel Clyne

7/10

A bundle of energy on the right that made good movements early on.

Dejan Lovren

6/10

Defended well, but gave away a free kick in a dangerous area later in the game. Booked.

Mamadou Sakho

7/10

Led by example at the back and made sure Liverpool’s defence remained in tact.

Alberto Moreno

6/10

Started well, but had a quieter game than usual.

Joe Allen

6/10

Struggled to impose himself in a game he should have controlled.

Emre Can

6/10

Proved to be a force in midfield, but has enjoyed better games as centre-back.

James Milner

6/10

Made improvements on his poor performance against Chelsea at the weekend. Hit the bar in the first half.

Jordon Ibe

8/10

A constant threat, and capped off a fine run through the middle with a calm and clinical finish.

Roberto Firmino

6/10

Was one of Liverpool’s chief creative forces, but was ultimately frustrated.

Christian Benteke

6/10

Wasn’t given a whole lot of service, but wasted the chances he did have.

Subs:
Adam Lallana: 6/10 – Settled the midfield well, but offered little going forward
Lucas Leiva: 6/10 – Came on to tighten up the middle when Rubin were pouring forward.
