The top 20 Arsenal youth prospects: Arsene Wenger’s legacy makes for bright future

Arsenal are known to have a world class youth academy at their disposal, and have already produced such names as Cesc Fabregas and Francis Coquelin.

But what about the next batch? As Wenger approaches on 20 years in the job, he has hinted that he may not have too long left before he decides to call it a day and hang up his zip coat, and will want to leave a legacy for the next man to take the hot seat.

So with that in mind, we take a look at the 20 best youngsters that could be set to breakthrough into the first team in the near future.

Gedion Zelalem

Currently on loan with Rangers and already a fully fledged USA international.

Jon Toral

Having spent last season with Brentford, he bagged five goals in 36 appearances and looks to be shaping up into a real tricky winger.

Tafari Moore

Moore has been with Arsenal since the age of 12 and has impressed with his darts forward from full-back.

A French youth international that has made his first team debut in the Capital One Cup earlier this season.

Stefan O’Connor

Began life as a winger, but his physical attributes have seen him transformed into an imposing defender.

Ben Sheaf

A regular with the England under-18s, and is known for his crisp and concise passing ability.

Glen Kamara

An energetic box-to-box midfielder that also made his debut in the Capital One Cup this season.

Jeff Reine-Adelaide

A summer arrival from Lens, he has already been involved in the first team and trains with them regularly.

Julio Pleguezuelo

Another former Barcelona youth product that now captains the Arsenal U21 side.

Donyell Malen

Arrived from Ajax recently, and has displayed a keen eye for goal and frighteningly quick footwork.

Matt Macey

His form for the U21s caught the eye of Accrington Stanley, where he enjoyed an impressive loan spell recently.

Alex Iwobi

Almost too good for youth level, he has featured a number of times in Arsene Wenger’s first team.

Deyan Iliev

The Macedonian youngster is said to have great agility and shot stopping abilities.

Isaac Hayden

Has already featured in the first team on numerous occasions, he was sent out on loan to Hull this season in order to gain some regular first team experience.

Chiori Johnson

A versatile and energetic defender that signed his first professional deal at the start of the season.
