Chelsea ready to sack Jose Mourinho: Three replacements identified by Roman Abramovich, including Champions League winner

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich could be preparing to sack struggling manager Jose Mourinho, with three main candidates already emerging to replace him as interim boss.

The Blues are in a disappointing position in the Premier League table and look unlikely to even make the top four this season, and Mourinho is under even more pressure after a 1-0 defeat to Stoke on Saturday.

With that in mind, Abramovich is preparing to bring in one of these three to take charge of the club until the end of the current campaign:

1) Brendan Rodgers

A shock candidate, Brendan Rodgers has recently become available after being sacked by Liverpool and could now take charge of Chelsea until the end of the season, having previously had a role as a coach at the club earlier in his career.

2) Roberto Di Matteo

One of Chelsea’s former managers, Roberto Di Matteo won the Champions League with the west Londoners in a brief but successful stint in 2012, and could now be in line to return to Stamford Bridge.

3) Guus Hiddink

Yet another of Chelsea’s former bosses being considered for the position, Guus Hiddink has served as interim head coach of the Blues in the past, winning the FA Cup in that time.
