Football Manager 2016 has finally made its way from the shelves and onto our hard drives and as you can imagine, we’re interested in who’s going to bag the goals for us.
With that in mind, we’ve sourced the 20 best strikers in the game this year and below we’re presenting them in order from 20th to 1st.
The information contained here will likely decide who fires your team to glory, or who you splash £50m on only to rue not buying that all important right-back instead.
20. Jonas – Benfica
Finishing Rating – 17
With a finishing rating of 17, he combines this with his 15-17 composure and 13-15 concentration. Valued at £7 million you can sign him for around £10 million, but aged 31 you won’t be getting any re-sale value.
19. Fred – Fluminense
Finishing Rating – 17
Another veteran, Fred’s finishing attribute starts at 17 and his composure is also high ranging between 15-17.
18. Gonzalo Higuain – Napoli
Finishing Rating – 17
You’ll already know who this man is, and his ratings will speak for themselves if you can stump up the cash to sign him.
17. Sergio Aguero – Manchester City
Finishing Rating – 17
The best striker in the Premier League has a phenomenal 17 finishing rating this year, but his 16 composure and 18 off the ball attributes combine to make him one of the most complete strikers on the game. He’ll cost you £56million though…
16. Luis Suarez – Barcelona
Finishing Rating – 17
Having taken a huge step up since leaving Liverpool, the Uruguayan has a clean sweep of 17 ratings across the board for his finishing, composure, off the ball, and his concentrations levels, which are also very strong.
15. Carlos Tevez – Boca Juniors
Finishing Rating – 17
Despite being 31 and returning to Argentine, Tevez still has a strong finishing rating which is complemented by a 20 rating for determination and 19 for bravery. He will still cost you around £20 million and a weekly wage of £150,000.
14. Antonio Di Natale – Udinese
Finishing rating – 17
Having bagged 224 in 429 games for the club, the veteran striker has impressive ratings of 17 for finishing, 17-19 for composure and 18 off the ball ability.
13. Karim Benzema – Real Madrid
Finishing Rating – 17
Not only does Benzema have some of the best ratings as a striker in the game, Real Madrid put up surprisingly little fight if you come in with a worthy offer. Blessed with excellent finishing, off the ball and composure attributes, he is a guaranteed goal scorer.
12. Burak Yilmaz – Galatasaray
Finishing Rating – 18
Having burst onto the scene in 2011-12, the Turkish international has seen his stats rise steadily across the board in the following years and marks the first step up on finishing quality in this list.
11. Daniel Sturridge – Liverpool
Finishing Rating – 18
Despite missing the majority of the past year through injury, the England striker still chalks up stats of 18 for finishing, 14-17 for composure and 16 for off the ball action.
10. Robin van Persie – Fenerbahce
Finishing Rating – 18
He may not have the powers he once possessed, but the striker still has 18 for finishing, 15-17 for composure and 16 for off the ball ability. Valued at £2.3m and earning just £79k per week, could he be worth another chance in the Premier League?
9. Mauro Icardi – Inter Milan
Finishing Rating – 18
One of the game’s ‘must buy’ strikers, with ratings of 18 for shooting, 14-17 for composure and 17 off the ball movement. He is valued at around £26 million and therefore you will have to pay around £80million to snap him up.
8. Falcao – Chelsea
Finishing Rating – 18
Yes, you read that correctly. Despite his powers seemingly disappearing he is still one of the most highly rated strikers on the game.
7. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar – Schalke
Finishing Rating – 18
Another veteran striker that is still having his predatory powers recognised with ratings of 18 for finishing, 15-17 for composure and a wonderful 19 for off the ball.
6. Giuseppe Rossi – Fiorentina
Finishing Rating – 18
Like Sturridge, the Italian international has spent a major spell on the sidelines through injury. However, with excellent stats across the board he would still prove to be a valuable signing.
5. Jackson Martinez – Atletico Madrid
Finishing Rating – 18
Having established himself as a true predatory force with Porto, he has seen his ratings jump to 18 for finishing, 17-19 for composure and 15 for off the ball following his move to Atleti.
4. Theofanis Gekas – Eskisehirspor
Finishing Rating – 19
The Greek grandad is perhaps the most surprising entry on this list and has been rewarded with a 19-20 finishing rating, 15-19 composure and 11-15 off the ball attributes.
3. Cristiano Ronaldo – Real Madrid
Finishing Rating – 20
Ronnie only makes it to third on the list this time around but still has a 20 rating for finishing to go alongside his 14 composure and exceptional 20 for off the ball ability.
2. Lukas Podolski – Galatasaray
Finishing Rating – 20
He may not have got much traction at Arsenal, but his stats suggest that he is definitely one of the best strikers on the game, clocking up 20 rating for finishing and 16-18 rating for composure.
1. Lionel Messi – Barcelona
Finishing Rating – 20
Who else was it going to be? Messi not only has a finishing rating of 20 but a series of others across the board, making him a truly frightening proposition.
