Arsenal star set to be risked by South American side despite injury concerns; Wenger will be LIVID

Arsene Wenger will likely be furious to learn that Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez is set to be risked by Chile against Uruguay.

The playmaker featured for La Roja in their 1-1 draw against Colombia on Thursday, but complained of calf pain after the match and was expected to be ruled out of his nation’s World Cup qualifier against Uruguay on Tuesday.

However, as reported by Goal, Jorge Sampaoli has revealed that he will consider using Alexis despite his ongoing fitness concerns.

“Alexis had pain in his calf and we will wait for him until the last minute to see if he is ready to play,” the international manager told journalists at Monday’s pre-match press conference.

The news will likely be received poorly in North London and by Wenger, who has previously expressed his concern that his forward may burn himself out due to the ongoing demands of club and international football.

The former Barcelona and Udinese man has been one of the Gunners’ key men so far this season, scoring six goals in 12 Premier League outings to date.

The North London side would certainly struggle to preserve their title aspirations should they be deprived of the South American forward for any period of time.
