Liverpool gossip: Sturridge returns to training and Anfield legend verges on Reds comeback

Tuesday’s biggest Liverpool news and transfer rumour roundup.

AC Milan’s Italy striker Mario Balotelli will be out until the New Year as the 25-year-old, on loan from Liverpool, is sent to Germany for a groin operation, the Daily Mail reports.

Balotelli has made just four appearances, scoring one goal, since returning to Milan this summer on a season-long loan from Liverpool.

Striker Daniel Sturridge, 26, has returned to full training with Liverpool – but boss Jurgen Klopp has still to decide if he can face Manchester City on Saturday, the Daily Mirror reports.

Sturridge took part in his first session with senior squad today after finally recovering from the ankle knock he suffered in the first few days of Klopp’s reign.

Liverpool have made an offer for Lazio captain and Argentine midfielder Lucas Biglia, according to Gazetta World.

The 29-year-old has previously been linked with a move to Manchester United, but has so far remind loyal to the Rome-based side.

Xabi Alonso is likely to complete a move to Liverpool as he prepares to leave Bayern Munich, according to the Metro.

Alonso, who is considered a legendary figure at Anfield, is out of contract at Bayern at the end of the season.

For some members of Liverpool ‘s hierarchy, Dele Alli ’s latest eye-catching performance will have made for uncomfortable viewing, the Daily Mirror reports.

Liverpool scouted him extensively and at one point Alli looked destined for Anfield. But when a long-since mooted move to the big time finally arrived earlier this year it was Tottenham who got the deal done and secured his services for an initial fee of £5million.
