Arsenal on verge of signing starlet goalkeeper arriving for trial spell

Arsenal are said to be on the verge of signing Dundee United goalkeeper Josh Donaldson after he arrived at the club for a trial spell with the view to joining permanently in the new year, according to the Daily Record.

The 15-year-old stopper is highly-rated up in Scotland and has been brought down to London for a closer look ahead of a possible permanent deal in January.

However, The Record also claims that Manchester United have held a strong interest in his services, though it is not yet known if they will make an attempt to snatch him away from under The Gunners.

Donaldson has also been impressing for his country, where he earned a Man of the Match award on his debut against Switzerland.

The Record states that Dundee United would seek compensation if he is to move on to Arsenal, though it is believed that it will only be a nominal amount.
