Manchester United Bartra: 8 La Liga players van Gaal should sign

Louis van Gaal has done a good job infusing Manchester United with young talent from Luke Shaw to Anthony Martial, but he isn’t done yet. Latest reports indicate that Man United are in hot pursuit of Barcelona’s 24-year-old defender Marc Bartra.

Bartra is exactly the kind of solid centre-back that Louis van Gaal could plug in alongside Luke Shaw (when he gets healthy again) to give the Red Devils one of the most dominant defenses in football.

But the young Barcelona defender is just one of many four-star talents from La Liga that Louis van Gaal should be working around the clock to bring to Old Trafford.

Here are eight La Liga players Man United should also try to sign:

Cristiano Ronaldo

A Rooney-Ronaldo reunion would delight Man United fans. Though expectations should be reasonably tempered given the talent level at Old Trafford, his return would make them an instant contender again.

Neymar

If Man United have to pay £150 million for Neymar it might be considered a massive bargain. The 23-year-old Neymar is perhaps the fastest rising star in the world and would have five years alongside Anthony Martial before the pair even reach the prime of their careers.

Gareth Bale

In the midst of a slow season with Real Madrid, Bale is still one of the most gifted and versatile players in Europe. With the way he’s been playing though, Man United might not need to break the transfer record to bring him back to England.

Sergio Ramos

Ramos was believed to be close to a move to the Premier League this past summer. The star defender’s eagerness to crush his former boss Jose Mourinho was suspected of being one of his many motivations.

Keylor Navas

A De Gea-Navas swap almost became a reality this past summer. If neither team manage to win an acceptable number of titles this year, it could happen in 2016.

Isco

The former Golden Boy is having a slow start to his 2015-16 campaign, but at age 23 there’s plenty of time for him to prove his worth – and he’d have plenty of chances to do so at Old Trafford.

Nolito

The Celta winger is coming off back-to-back double-digit goal seasons and could very well be the kind of versatile winger/forward that Angel Di Maria wasn’t for the Red Devils.

Lionel Messi

Messi’s legal problems in Spain have led to persistent rumors that he is ready to leave Barcelona. Man United are one of the few clubs on Earth can afford both his transfer fee and his weekly wages.
