In-depth: Liverpool’s squad depth examined; does Klopp have the best backup options in the league?

In light of Liverpool’s 6-1 demolition of Southampton in midweek, and their upcoming Premier League clash against Newcastle United, a Reds website have explored the depth of Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Liverpool fan site Empire of the Kop have produced a cracking in-depth report which explores the true dimensions of the Reds squad.

It makes for encouraging reading for fans of the Anfield giants.

For the rout of Southampton, a number of key players were rested—including James Milner,  Nathaniel Clyne and Simon Mignolet—yet the Reds appeared to lack none of the cohesion or understanding that has characterised their recent away showings in the Premier League.

Even with Philippe Coutinho rested completely, and with Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke–£60 million-worth of attacking talent, as EOTK point out—left on the bench, Klopp’s outfit lacked none of their offensive venom and irrepressible attacking threat.

It was, of course, great credit to the manager, but what cannot be overlooked is just how deep Liverpool’s resources run at the moment.
