David Silva produced a stunning finish to break the deadlock for the Citizens within the opening 20 minutes of the game, as the Spaniard produced another reminder as to how key he is to Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

With Sergio Aguero missing through injury and Raheem Sterling playing up front in a lone striker role, City will need Silva to become more of a goalscoring threat and he certainly delivered with his finish as seen above.

However, Pellegrini will be left to bemoan his side’s weaknesses in defence as the visitors immediately hit back after piercing through the City backline before Julian Korb applied the finishing touches with an arrowed effort past Joe Hart into the bottom corner.

As pointed out by Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher this week, the ageing defence is an area that will likely be strengthened in the summer. However, coupled with the on-going absence of captain Vincent Kompany due to injury, it remains to be seen whether or not the issue continues to derail the club’s hopes of winning silverware this season

The hosts will be fully aware that they must win their contest with the Bundesliga outfit, and hope that Sevilla can defeat Juventus in order to finish top of the group and thus avoid the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the first round of the knockout stages.
