It was inevitable that it would be Leicester City‘s Jamie Vardy who heaped further woe on Jose Mourinho and Chelsea.
The in-form England international may have seen his record-breaking run come to an end when he ‘only’ managed an assist against Swansea City in the Foxes’ 3-0 victory last weekend, but he remains the Premier League’s in-form striker at the moment.
He scored his 15th goal of the season to open the scoring against Chelsea at the King Power Stadium on Monday evening as Leicester returned to the top of the Premier League, leapfrogging Manchester City and Arsenal…for now at least.
Riyad Mahrez, who delivered a superb delivery, was influential in the goal, but the finger of blame must also be pointed at John Terry, who appeared to hesitate as the ball came in.
While Vardy’s effort perpetuates his and Leicester’s superb form so far this season—the Foxes were among the relegation candidates before the season started but have since lost only one league match—they heap further misery on Chelsea and Mourinho.
