Breaking: Chelsea sack Jose Mourinho

Reports on the BBC seem to have confirmed that Chelsea have sacked manager Jose Mourinho.

The 52-year-old had been in charge of the club for the second time since taking over again back in the summer of 2013. He led the club to their fifth Premier League title last term, and rounded off the season with a League Cup double, but this season has seen their fortunes diminish drastically.

Having finished the term eight points clear last year, the Blues currently sit in 16th place in the table, just one point above the relegation zone thanks to losing nine of their opening 16 games so far.

Mourinho’s final act in charge of the club was to succumb to a 2-1 defeat to Leicester City on Monday night.

The likes of Pep Guardiola, Guus Hiddink, Brendan Rodgers and Juande Ramos have all been touted as possible successors, but as of yet there has been no movement from the club in that regard.
