Adam Bogdan howler video: Liverpool keeper’s shocking gaffe pounced on by Chelsea loanee

Adam Bogdan’s Premier League debut for Liverpool could not have started any worse.

The Hungarian is deputising for Simon Mignolet, who has a tight hamstring according to Liverpool’s official Twitter account, between the posts for their trip to high-flying Watford this afternoon.

And, only three minutes in, the summer signing from Bolton Wanderers made an awful gaffe, dropping a simple catch from a corner to allow on-loan Chelsea defender Nathan Ake to prod Watford ahead.

Bogdan protested to referee Mark Clattenburg that he had two hands on the ball when Ake pinched it from him, but the 28-year-old was only looking to distract attention from his embarrassing howler.

The goalkeeper’s despair is Ake’s joy. The 20-year-old’s Christmas celebrations will be made all the more sweeter by a first Premier League goal in his 16 appearances for either Watford or Chelsea.

The visit to Vicarage Road is Bogdan’s first Premier League appearance for Liverpool. His three previous outings in a Red shirt have all been in their run to the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup.

Liverpool and Bogdan’s day has since got worse with a second goal scored by prolific Watford forward Odion Ighalo. The Hornets look well poised to go four points clear of the Merseysiders in the table.
