Leicester City – Cotton wool
To wrap Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy in! If Leicester’s prolific pair, who have a staggering 29 league goals between them this season, stay fit then the Foxes are genuine top-four contenders at worst.
Arsenal – A defensive midfielder
It was surprising that Arsenal didn’t invest in a holding midfielder in the summer, and now an injury to Francis Coquelin has left them desperately short. Wenger has to buy one in the New Year sales.
Manchester City – A fully-fit Vincent Kompany
The crocked Belgian has played less than half of City’s league games and they have badly missed him. If he plays less than half of their league games in the second half of the season, they will not win the title.
Tottenham Hotspur – Striking support for Harry Kane
Spurs are still over-reliant on their homegrown hero for goals – they have won only two league games in which he has not scored. He needs some support and Tottenham must address this in January.
Manchester United – Jose Mourinho
Old Trafford is bored to death with Louis van Gaal’s style of football and the results are getting worse – no win in six in all competitions. Some fans want sacked Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho to come in and shake things up. According to reports in Europe, via The Express, they may just get their wish.
Crystal Palace – A striker to hit form
Palace are flying high in sixth in the table. Imagine how well they would be doing if a striker found some form! None of their recognised strikers have scored a goal from open play in the league this campaign.
Watford – More of the same
Watford will be another team very happy this festive season after making a remarkable impact on the Premier League. Quique Sanchez Flores would be greedy if he didn’t simply ask for more of the same.
West Ham United – Better luck with injuries
The Hammers have been decimated by injuries – losing attackers Dimitri Payet, Manuel Lanzini, Victor Moses, Diafra Sakho and defender Winston Reid. Any more and they will quickly slip down the table.
Liverpool – Return on their summer spending
The Reds freshened up their attack with £80m worth of attacking talent this summer – fee reported by the Liverpool Echo, but a return of six league goals combined from Christian Benteke, Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi is hugely disappointing. Jurgen Klopp needs to start getting the best out of them.
Everton – More clean sheets
The Toffees, inspired by Romelu Lukaku, have no problems finding the net, but conceding goals has been a problem. They only have one clean sheet since February and it is holding them back.
