Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas is being lined up for a move to Turkish heavyweights Besiktas, according to reports in Turkey.
Spor Kahvesi have reported that current Besiktas boss Senol Gunes is keen to reinforce his defensive ahead of the second half of the campaign, and has identified the centre-back as a key addition as his side look to strengthen their grip on top spot in the Super Lig table.
After 16 matches, the Black Eagles are first in the Turkish top flight, one point ahead of Fenerbahce in second and a whopping nine ahead of third-placed Galarasaray.
However, they have conceded 18 goals, more than five other sides in the first division.
As he seeks to bolster Besiktas’ options, Gunes looks set to turn to Kalas, who is currently on loan with Championship outfit Middlesbrough.
The 22-year-old defender moved to Chelsea from Sigma Olomouc, but has joined the ranks of Blues players seemingly permanently on loan away from Stamford Bridge.
He has made only two Premier League appearances for the west London outfit in the five years since moving to England, but has subsequently featured for the likes of Vitesse Arnhem, FC Koln and Boro, with whom he suffered play-off final heartbreak last season.
Should he leave on a permanent deal in January, Kalas could become Chelsea’s first sale following the exit of Jose Mourinho and the appointment of Guus Hiddink on December 19 [BBC Sport].
