Former AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato has reportedly ‘finalised’ his loan move to Chelsea with a view of making it permanent in the summer.
The Brazilian international has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, particularly after rediscovering his form with Sao Paulo in a loan spell from Corinthians last season.
While the Brazilian giants have insisted that they wish to sell him ahead of his contract expiring at the end of December, it appears as though they have taken the first step to doing so by sending him to Stamford Bridge, as reported by Sky Sports.
After an injury plagued spell at the San Siro, Pato returned to his homeland in 2013 with a view of overcoming his fitness troubles and finding his goalscoring form.
It appears as though he did just that with 19 goals in 59 games for Sao Paulo, and Chelsea will certainly hope that he can maintain that eye for goal as opposed to the difficulties that he experienced previously.
As a result, he still has much to prove with regards to staying fit and producing on a weekly basis in the Premier League, but Guus Hiddink appears to have enough faith in him to add him to the squad for the remainder of the campaign.
The Dutch tactician was appointed on an interim basis after Jose Mourinho was sacked last month, and with his tenure ending at the end of the season, it remains to be seen as to whether or not he will get a say in Pato’s long-term future in west London.
Nevertheless, the Brazilian ace will be desperate to prove himself in his second spell in Europe after previously revealing that he was close to a move to Manchester United.
