Southampton goal video: Pelle gives Saints lead over surging Stoke City

If Stoke City plan on setting a new club milestone for highest finish in the Premier League, they’ll need to avoid giving up huge goals against their fellow top-ten teams like they did against Southampton today.

Both clubs were playing at Britannia Stadium with a chance to move into seventh place on the line, but it was Southampton striker Graziano Pelle who drew first blood against the Potters, scoring on a header to give the Saints a 1-0 lead:

Stoke are undefeated through four straight games, outscoring foes 7-4 while picking up 10 of 12 points in the process. Southampton, on the other hand, are in the middle of a slump as the team has one draw and two losses in their last three matches after going 5-1-0 in their previous six and recording six clean sheets.

After the way Man City gave up easy points against Norwich City early today, winning today’s match could do a ton of good to both teams’ European competition ambitions.
