Liverpool and Chelsea legends called ‘overrated’ in MLS players’ poll

The reviews are in on how MLS players feel about highly-touted summer signings Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard, and they are unflattering to say the least.

In a poll of 123 players in the American league, per ESPN, Lampard and Gerrard both received a significant number of votes for ‘Most Overrated Player in MLS.’ The former Chelsea & Man City midfielder Lampard – now with NYC FC – shared third place on the list with teammate Andrea Pirlo, while LA Galaxy man Gerrard finished fifth in the poll.

The first-place title went to another of Lampard’s NYC FC teammates – midfielder Mix Diskerud, who has 37 caps for the USMNT but went unused for the team in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Second-place went to Toronto FC striker Jozy Altidore, the No. 4 leading scorer in USMNT history and an MLS All-Star in 2015.

Lampard and Gerrard both joined MLS for the second half of the 2015 after finishing their respective careers in the Premier League.
