Opinion: Real Madrid to make mistake in offloading Premier League target

Alvaro Morata will reportedly return to Real Madrid this summer, only for the Spanish giants to sell him on at a profit with a whole host of Premier League monitoring his situation.

According to AS, Los Blancos intend on exercising the buy-back clause in the contract with Juventus, but they will use the transfer funds generated by his sale to pursue their own targets in the summer transfer market.

Madrid are set to pay Juventus €30m in order to seal his return to Spain, while Arsenal have emerged as the most likely destination, despite reports claiming that Tottenham have joined the race along with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Bayern Munich, according to Football Italia.

The biggest losers in this situation will undoubtedly be Juve, with the Turin giants losing the striker who has proven that he is capable of becoming a leading striker in Europe.

With 10 goals and eight assists in 40 appearances in all competitions so far this season, the statistics suggest a different story as it has been a troubled campaign at times for the 23-year-old. Nevertheless, his general goalscoring threat coupled with his habit of making decisive contributions in big games make him an ideal frontman.

While his contract with the Bianconeri runs until 2020, Madrid can reacquire him this summer and will face a difficult decision given that the choice amongst supporters is to keep the Spaniard at the club with whom he developed in their youth system.

For Morata’s part, he has insisted that he is happy in Turin, while also conceding that a return to the Spanish capital is a possibility as he also welcomed talk of a move to the Premier League by insisting that he believes his characteristics are well suited to England, as reported by Marca.

Morata has plenty of room for improvement, but at the age of just 23, he has ample time to develop, mature and hone his skills as he is ultimately a modern-day striker that is capable of doing it all.

From building up play, to running the channels and beating his marker, he is composed in front of goal and is an aerial threat. All in all, he would play a big part for any top side in Europe.

Madrid now have to decide whether or not that will happen with them or will they risk seeing their star pupil succeed elsewhere with no buy-back clause this time round? Rather than splashing out on a certain 27-year-old Bayern Munich striker by the name of Robert Lewandowski, as suggested by The Daily Mail, the Spanish giants have the perfect number 9 at their future disposal already.
