Manchester United dealt blow as Romelu Lukaku’s agent makes alternative plan

Mino Raiola has suggested that Juventus could be a ‘good solution’ for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku this summer as he eyes an exit from Goodison Park.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News earlier this week, the Belgian striker revealed that he would be open to a reunion with Jose Mourinho as his former boss has been linked with the Manchester United job this summer.

In turn, a switch to Old Trafford seemed like a real possibility given his desire to move on to a bigger club, but Raiola seemingly has other hopes for the 22-year-old and that could involve a move to Italy.

“Lukaku? Of course, Juventus as a solution could go well,” Raiola said to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“But keep an eye on PSG and Real Madrid too for the Everton striker. Does it also depend on Higuain’s future? The environment has changed in Paris. I don’t know if they’re ready to spend €90m – the price of oil has fallen and the emir is keeping more in his pocket.

“Also for this reason he’s insisting on keeping Ibra. Cavani? I repeat, in they could decide to keep the ‘Matador’ as well. And then let’s not overlook the fact that Nasser Al-Khelaifi hasn’t forgotten the Coman deal yet. So before giving Cavani to Juve…”

Lukaku is enjoying his most productive season thus far this year, scoring 25 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions as he appears to be on the verge of moving on to a higher level above Everton.

While a move elsewhere would potentially be a risk in that it would disrupt his development, he appears keen on the idea of moving to a club competing in the Champions League and for domestic honours.

There is no doubt that Juve would present him with that opportunity, but whether he would want to leave the Premier League remains to be seen.

Much will also depend on the situation at United and whether Mourinho arrives in the summer, but it is clear, and certainly worrying from an Everton point of view, that plans are in place to explore various options in the summer.
