Antonio Conte to try adventurous new formation at Chelsea – these are the players he wants for it

Incoming manager Antonio Conte plans to jazz up Chelsea with an adventurous new formation and a flurry of exciting new signings, according to The Mirror.

Conte has favoured a 3-5-2 formation with Italy and during his time at Juventus, but The Mirror reports that he wants to use a bold 4-2-4 system at Stamford Bridge.

The Mirror understands that Conte played 4-2-4 early in his managerial career at Bari and feels that its gung-ho nature could be more suited to the Premier League.

And the 46-year-old has a shortlist of big-name targets who he feels will suit these tactics, with Atletico Madrid’s Antonie Griezmann a priority, The Mirror claims.

The Mirror adds that there is mutual interest in striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is out of contract in the summer, and his Paris Saint-Germain colleague Javier Pastore.

Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan and Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci are also on Conte’s radar as he aims to rebuild the fallen Premier League champions.

If the Blues can get their hands on these players, and use Conte’s 4-2-4 system, they could potentially be title challengers once again, and entertaining if nothing else.
