Video: Crystal Palace 2-1 Stoke City – Dwight Gayle hits screaming free kick goal

Alan Pardew needed a spark in the second half to avoid a bitter defeat against Stoke City, and Dwight Gayle was more than happy to give it to him to the tune of two goals – the second of which was an absolute screamer.

After a foul on Shawcross set up a free-kick, Gayle stepped up to curl the take around the Stoke City wall and past goalkeeper Jakob Haugaard. Interestingly, Gayle actually slipped as he hit his strike, but it was so solid of a hit that it actually sped past the wall and into the back of the net for a goal. Watch and see:

That goal for Gayle was his second of the afternoon after he scored his first just 70 seconds into the start of the second-half.

With the result, Crystal Palace are officially safe from relegation.

The performance has also given the Eagles a much-needed momentum boost heading into the final matchday before they take on Manchester United in the FA Cup.
