Chelsea transfer for £30m Roma star poised to get hijacked by Serie A powerhouse

For weeks AS Roma star Miralem Pjanic has been linked with an expensive move to Stamford Bridge. With five solid years in Serie A and a consistent presence in the Champions League, Pjanic would be an ideal fit for incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte. However, a late entry into the transfer race could put a halt to Conte’s pursuit of the prized midfielder.

According to Corriere dello Sport via Shoot, Juventus are entering the race for the 26-year-old Pjanic and are going to make an effort to sign him this summer. Per the source, Pjanic has a price tag of £30 million.

Roma are also believed to be determined to keep Pjanic, especially now that they have clinched a spot in the Champions League next season.

Pjanic has 30 goals in his last 184 appearances for Roma, and was one of five players credited as the top assist provider in Serie A for the 2014-15 season with 10. This year he trails only Paul Pogba in the category with 11.
