Top Man United player gives club ultimatum: Fire Louis van Gaal or I’m leaving

The fans demand him gone, the pundits demand him gone and now it seems some of the Manchester United players are ready to pick up and go if the team doesn’t get rid of embattled manager Louis van Gaal. Man United goalkeeper David de Gea, the club’s only PFA Team of the Year member and the club’s Fans’ Player of the Year, seems to want Van Gaal out so badly that he’s willing to try and force the club’s hand.

According to the Daily Mail, De Gea is threatening to leave Man United if Van Gaal is retained as manager for the 2016-17 season. The Spanish goalkeeper is believed to be ‘disenchanted’ with the Dutch boss after the team struggled throughout the season despite fielding the league’s best scoring defence.

Per the Spanish newspaper AS, De Gea has a £40 million release clause in his contract that he is not afraid to allow Real Madrid to trigger with the La Liga giants interested in him.

De Gea’s 15 clean sheets are second only to Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech but Man United have one game still to play.

This past summer De Gea came minutes away from securing a swap move to Real Madrid, but the deal fell through at the last minute of the summer transfer deadline
