Giggs expected to call time on 28-year Man United career by rejecting Mourinho’s demotion offer

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs looks set to leave Old Trafford this summer following the imminent arrival of Jose Mourinho.

Former Chelsea boss Mourinho will replace sacked manager Louis van Gaal at United this week, according to The Mirror, who claim that the Special One will bring loyal assistant Rui Faria and goalkeeping coach Silvinho Louro with him.

Giggs – who won 13 Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups and two Champions Leagues during a glittering playing career with United – had worked as Van Gaal’s no.2, but Faria’s appointment under Mourinho would probably force him into a demotion.

The Mirror report that Mourinho is keen to keep Giggs and is prepared to offer him a different role in his coaching team.

However, the same newspaper suggest that the Welshman will turn down Mourinho’s proposal.

Giggs has been on the books at United since November 1987, while Mourinho has never stayed with one club for more than three years since he became a manager in 2000.
