Real Madrid star: Winning Champions League is like virgin sex

Few people in football have such a way with words as Real Madrid star defender Sergio Ramos. Ahead of the Los Blancos’ captain’s Champions League Final re-match with Atletico Madrid from their clash two years ago, the Spanish superstar made it clear that there’s nothing quite like winning the biggest prize in European football.

In an interview with The Guardian [per The Sun], Ramos compared his first Champions League title win with having sex for the very first time. He explained that once was never enough and there was always room for improvement – among other more vivid descriptions.

“The first time (you win the Champions League) is like when you make love: you always remember it . . . but then it’s true that you can improve because to start with you’re a disaster.

“The first time always has a special taste. I was the protagonist for a great goal.

“But I am optimistic, very ambitious, and I prefer to keep turning the page and adding (trophies) to my CV. Hopefully I will have the chance to lift the trophy.”

In the 2014 Champions League Final, Ramos scored the equalizer at the 90+3′ mark to send the match to extra time. In the 30 minute bonus period, Real Madrid scored three more times to secure their first Champions League title in twelve years.

Though Atletico Madrid are renown for their defending, Real Madrid’s defense has been one of their calling cards in the tournament. Los Blancos recorded five shutouts in the group stage, and another five in their six knockout round matches to secure a spot in the Final. They have allowed just four goals the entire tournament.
