Chelsea stalwart gutted that Mourinho chose Manchester United; gives view on coach’s chances

Speaking ahead of Euro 2016, Ricardo Carvalho has insisted that new Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho will be a big success at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils parted ways with Louis van Gaal at the season’s end, even though the Dutch manager brought the FA Cup to the north west.

However, LVG failed to build on his early success at the club, and despite helping United back into the Champions League, they were eliminated in the first round and have failed to qualify again this term.

Speaking to reporters—as per The Sun—AS Monaco defender Carvalho has insisted that Mourinho can be the man to help the club return to the standing they enjoyed under legendary manager Louis van Gaal.

“I played for Chelsea and still have pride in the club, so I didn’t want to see Jose at United,” Carvalho admitted, someone candidly. “No one at Chelsea did.

“He is our Special One and I’m sure he will always have pride in Chelsea,” the Portuguese defender added.

“But, of course, he is a professional coach and has to go to work,” he continued. “United are perfect for him because they are a big club with a great history and Jose will like to make his own history.”

The Portuguese defender worked at Stamford Bridge under Mourinho having been signed by the ex-FC Porto coach from his former club in 2004.
