Many haters have had laughs at Cristiano Ronaldo’s expense in the past week.

But the Ronaldo hate mob were silenced on Wednesday night as the Real Madrid superstar finally arrived at Euro 2016 with a man-of-the-match performance to save Portugal from what would have been an embarrassing elimination.

A defeat to Hungary would have seen Portugal sent home. And that looked very likely as they fell behind on three occasions, only for Ronaldo to spectacularly intervene.

Portugal’s first equaliser was assisted by Ronaldo, who set up former Manchester United teammate Nani to cancel out Zoltan Gera’s long-range pinger just before half time.

Hungary twice went back in front after the interval courtesy of Balazs Dzsudzsak, but Ronaldo bagged a vital brace to keep his county alive in France.

Ronny’s first of the night came via a clever back-heel, while his second was a booming header.

Haters did briefly get another chance to LOL, as more Ronaldo tantrums were witnessed following Hungary’s third goal.

However, MOTM Ronaldo had the last laugh.

Portugal end the group phase with three draws, which is enough to see them scrape through in third place.

They looked set for second place, which would have set up a last 16 game clash with England, until Iceland score a last-minute winner to beat Austria and jumped above Portugal.

England will now face Iceland on Monday, while Portugal must face Croatia.
