Manchester United transfer news: Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Old Trafford by end of week

Zlatan Ibrahimovic should finally complete his move to Manchester United by the end of the week as Jose Mourinho is close to landing one of his top targets.

The 34-year-old will become a free agent at the end of this month with his Paris Saint-Germain contract set to expire.

In turn, he is expected to sign a one-year deal with United and become Mourinho’s second summer signing after he brought in Eric Bailly from Villarreal earlier this month.

According to the BBC, United fans won’t have to wait much longer for their star man to put pen-to-paper and to be officially unveiled, with suggestions that his move will be wrapped up by the end of this week.

It will be a welcome boost for the Swede, who called time on his international career this week following Sweden’s exit at Euro 2016.

Having failed in his bid to inspire them to a deep run at the tournament, Ibrahimovic will now switch his focus to his club future and put the finishing touches to his move to Manchester.

The former AC Milan, Juventus and Barcelona star has won multiple league titles in four different European countries, and will now hope to enjoy a successful stint in the Premier League under the watchful eye of his former boss Mourinho.

The pair formed a close bond during their time together at Inter, and will now hope to mastermind United’s return to the top of English football next season with Ibrahimovic scoring 50 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions for PSG last year.

Mourinho replaced Louis van Gaal at the helm last month, and will now be expected to continue his summer spree with several more new faces likely to arrive at Old Trafford in the coming month or so.
