Tottenham target goes public with frustration as move continues to be delayed

AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen has insisted that he wants to complete his move to Tottenham ‘as soon as possible’ as negotiations rumble on.

The 22-year-old finished as the Eredivise’s top goalscorer last season, with 27 goals in 34 games as he attracted plenty of attention from around Europe.

Leading the chase for his signature are Spurs, with the Dutchman visiting their training ground a fortnight ago to discuss a possible move to north London.

AZ technical director Max Huiberts revealed last week that a bid for the striker had been rejected, but Janssen feels that it’s a more than satisfactory offer and is growing frustrated with being made to wait by his current employers to complete his move to England.

“I’ve made my choice clear to the club,” Janssen told AD on Thursday.

“In my view, Tottenham Hotspur have made a big offer. There was an offer of about €18 million. But AZ doesn’t even want to sit at the table.

“I would like to start preseason somewhere else as soon as possible. This is frustrating.”

Mauricio Pochettino would undoubtedly also be keen to secure Janssen’s arrival at White Hart Lane sooner rather than later in order to give the player as much time as possible to settle in his new surroundings ahead of the new campaign.

Furthermore, it will be an important signing for the Argentine tactician, as he looks to lessen the load on Harry Kane having relied heavily on him to score the goals for the team last season.

The England international ended the year with 25 Premier League goals, but after a miserable tournament at Euro 2016 in France this summer, he’ll be eager to get back to club level and prove his worth again.
