If you’ve got the Monday blues, watch this video because it is guaranteed to warm your heart.

Footage has emerged of a young boy wearing a Portuguese shirt consoling a devastated France supporter at a Paris fan park following last night’s Euro 2016 final, which Portugal won in extra time.

The home fans were heartbroken after Eder’s 109th-minute strike denied them a memorable and emotional triumph on their own soil, with this particular chap in floods of tears after the final whistle.

But, in an incredible moment of compassion which shows how football should unite and not divide us, he was consoled by a Portuguese kid, who could not have been much older than eight or nine.

The Frenchman is clearly appreciative of the boy’s gesture as the two hug it out at the end!

All of the stupid hooligans whose violence marred the start of the tournament should be made to watch this video on repeat until they get the message – this is how football fans should behave.
