Man Utd target Paul Pogba branded ‘a waste of money’

The French World Cup winner and former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has slammed Paul Pogba following France’s defeat to Portugal in the Euro 2016 final.

According to the Independent Petit stated that Manchester United will be “wasting money” if they spend £100m to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus.

Pogba failed to live up to expectations during Euro 2016 despite France reaching the Euro 2016 final. The 23-year-old was on the end of harsh criticism from the French press following a poor performance in the final on Sunday.

“They say £100m, it is a waste of money for me,” stated Petit.

“Pogba has a great future, but this move is too early for him. I don’t like the situation around him all the time. We are making him out to be a big star, but he is not a big star to me.

“He hasn’t reached the level of the Champions League yet or the level with the national team. I am pretty sure he can do it, but this is too early for him.”

United have already signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free transfer from PSG, Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund and the young defender Eric Bailly from Villarreal this summer.

The France international previously played for Manchester United and made his senior debut in the 2011-12 season. However, the France international left Old Trafford for Juventus after failing to break into the first team on a consistent bases.

Pogba provided 16 assists and scored ten goals in 49 appearances for Juventus last season.
